Pushi(On)

PushiOn() is a prototype made in 2016. The brief was to repurpose a recycled object as a digital media interface. Antonella used a pillow and an old leather bag to make interactive squishy pressure sensors using smart materials such as silver stretch conductive fabric, static foam, conductive thread and liquid crystal ink and an Arduino microcontroller. As pressure is applied on the cushion sounds get triggered and play on loop until pressure is released. The amplitude increases with the force applied and some filters are also used. This video features the track "Bedtime stories" (Isam) by Amon Tobin. No copyright infringement is intended.
